Edible Schoolyard New Orleans, or ESYNOLA, was announced as an official beneficiary of the fourth annual Chefs Taste Challenge: Battle of the Gulf edition, a cooking competition at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.
A signature program of FirstLine Schools, Edible Schoolyard aims to instill the values of self-sustainment in school-aged children by teaching them how to grow their own food and cooking their own meals. As the official beneficiary of the Chefs Taste Challenge, Edible Schoolyard New Orleans will receive a portion of each event ticket sold. Representatives of Edible Schoolyard New Orleans will be attending the Chefs Taste Challenge, which is happening on September 7, 2018.
The 2018 Chefs Taste Challenge will feature a face-off between the best farm-to-table chefs in New Orleans competing against the best farm-to-table chefs in the Gulf Coast region. The Gulf Coast teams may include the following states: AL, FL, LA, MS, and TX. All culinary teams will compete to create the best dish that utilizes farm-fresh items from a pantry of pre-selected ingredients. Items stocked in the pantry will be representative of ingredients that are in season in various regions at the time of the competition.
The Chefs Taste Challenge is held in conjunction with Farm & Table NOLA, taking place September 7 – 8, 2018 at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.
